(Our first dance song at our wedding. Love it.)
I can’t believe it’s been FIVE years since I married my best friend! We have had an amazing five years being married. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had our downs, but they are definitely outweighed by the ups.
Chris and I are high-school sweethearts. (Technically, middle school for me and high school for him since we started “dating” when I was in the eighth grade.) We broke up just two times during our relationship, but have been together for almost 15 years total now. Wow. That’s just crazy. But, crazy good.
Here’s a trip down memory lane with a few photos from our dating years:

We were (and still are) so cheesy and so young in love.
Chris and I were married on Good Friday, April 14, 2006 at 7:00pm at the Palencia Club in St. Augustine, FL. It was the most perfect day. We got married and had our reception outside, and, being that it was Florida, we were a little worried about potential rain. But, God was so good to us and we had amazingly good weather. (The only problem we had was during our pictures after the ceremony. It was dusk and all the gnats were trying to eat us to pieces! In our wedding video, you can kinda see people swatting at them and scratching their heads while trying to pose for the camera. Kinda funny.)

Chris and I went to St. Helena in the Napa Valley area and San Francisco for our honeymoon. It was the perfect combination of relaxation right after the wedding and big city exploration, which we love to do!

For the past five years we’ve been living in Lynchburg, VA and loving life! We love to travel and try to explore new places as often as we can. (We keep hoping we’ll find a way to get paid to travel. One day.) We also love eating out (although I do love to cook at home too!), hanging out with friends, playing with our dog Scotch, and just being with each other. We’ve done some really fun things throughout all of our years and look forward to all that God has in store for us in the future!
We are always looking for good advice or tips for a good marriage. Ours would be communication, being best friends first, surround yourselves with good friends and mentors, always strive to love life and just have fun, and most of all, keeping God first in your individual lives as well as the center of your marriage. What advice would you give?

Happy five year anniversary! We celebrated five years in November. Our biggest tip is to always be working on communication! Communicating with one another requires constant attention. Also, pray together often! Hope you have a wonderful time celebrating.
