Haha. I just can’t help but laugh at that title that my funny husband suggested for the start of this series on hotel reviews. We figured since we travel so much we would start taking pictures and reviewing the hotels that we visit in case you need a recommendation/review of a hotel when you’re travelling. And boy did we pick a great one to start with!
The Hotel Palomar in the Rosslyn area of Arlington, VA was probably one of the best stays we’ve ever had in a hotel. Top 3 for sure. It is part of the Kimpton Hotel chain which is a chain of nice boutique hotels. We’ve stayed at another Kimpton Hotel before and really like them. The are always really nicely decorated, have great customer service and are pet-friendly.
We had such an amazing trip to Northern Virginia/DC a couple of weeks ago. We just love to visit the “big city” whenever we get a chance to get away. Stay tuned for a blog post about our favorite things to do in DC!
We got this hotel at a great deal through Priceline.com‘s Name Your Own Price option. This hotel normally costs $229 a night and is listed at $139 a night on Priceline, but we named our own price and got it for $70 a night! Woot! We’ve been using the name your own price feature a lot recently and have had quite a few people ask us about it, so we’re going to be blogging about that process soon too.
I don’t think we had one complaint about the hotel, service, or staff the entire stay. From walking into the entrance area, to being greeted by Harald (great front desk clerk), and then enjoying the beautiful and comfortable room, everything was perfect! Some perks of the Hotel Palomar are location (right in the heart of Rosslyn overlooking the Potomac River and Georgetown and within walking distance to the metro and places to eat), wine happy hour (every night from 5-6pm they offer free wine for guests to enjoy!), customer service (Harald was personable, helpful and just genuinely nice), beautiful building and decorations, and it smelled incredible! [So, this is the second place that we've stayed at recently that has these industrial scent machines that pumps great smelling scents into the lobby areas of hotels (the first place was the resort we stayed at in Newport Beach, CA). And, the scent at Hotel Palomar was incredible! It was fresh, crisp, clean, delightful! I asked Harald if he knew what scent it was (I know, I'm crazy!), but he didn't.
I'm almost crazy enough to call back to see if anyone there can ask maintenance what that scent is and how I can get it in my house. It.was.that.good. No lie.]
The room itself was so nice! It was roomy, comfortable and had a great view of the Potomac River and Georgetown. Here are some pictures of the awesome room:
As you can see, Hotel Palomar is fantastic! If you’re ever staying in the Rosslyn/Arlington area of DC you should definitely check out Hotel Palomar. We highly recommend it!

I came across your blog post because I’ve stayed at the Hotel Palomar in Rosslyn quite a few times and have always wondered about the wonderful scent they put in their lobby. SO. GOOD!!! Glad I’m not the only one eager to find out what that deliciousness is in the air.
Isn’t just wonderful?!?! I thought about calling to ask the maintenance people, but I thought that might be a little weird. Guess we’ll just have to go back and stay at the Hotel Palomar every time we go to DC!
